Mounted Archery
π Overview
Mounted Archery is a high-skill discipline combining riding accuracy with archery marksmanship. Inspired by historical horseback warfare and modern competitive events, riders must maintain control of their horse while drawing, aiming, and firing arrows at targets placed along a track.
Courses challenge both the riderβs aim and their ability to keep rhythm, as reins are often dropped while shooting. Whether firing at speed or weaving through obstacles, mounted archery is a thrilling test of balance, coordination, and timing.
Players compete for the highest target score within the shortest possible time β with no margin for error.

π§ββοΈ Judging
Mounted Archery combines time-based and score-based judging. Riders are evaluated on both accuracy (targets hit) and time (how quickly they complete the course).
β Disqualifications
Skipping a target
Dropping bow or arrows during course
Failure to complete course within max time
Unsafe riding or exiting the course boundaries
β οΈ Penalties
Firing in the wrong order
Hitting a target from an incorrect location
Going off-track
Riding at incorrect gait if required (e.g., trotting instead of cantering)
π Scoring
Final scores are calculated by combining:
Total target score
Speed/time bonus (if applicable)
Penalties (deducted from total)
π― Target Points:
Bullseye: 10 pts
Inner Ring: 5 pts
Outer Ring: 2 pts
Miss: 0 pts
β±οΈ Speed Bonus:
Courses may include time brackets that award bonus points for completion under a certain time. This encourages pace without sacrificing precision.
Example:
6 targets hit (3 bullseyes, 2 inner, 1 miss) = 40 pts
Course completed in 35 seconds = +5 bonus
1 penalty for missing a firing marker = -2 pts
Final Score = 43 pts
